ABOUT LORRAINE

The Passion

From a very young age, Lorraine was fascinated by the beauty of movement and music. Her childhood was spent exploring the body through gymnastics, ice skating and different styles of dance. In her early twenties, a strong calling to the path of yoga became the catalyst for many deeper realisations in her life and she left everything behind to follow this call.

She has now been a dedicated yogini and lover of truth for over thirty years. She specialises in offering an insightful feminine way of practising yoga, bringing forth her love of Tantra and Kashmir Shaivism.

She has also dedicated many years to the study of Jnana (Non Duality), Bhakti (Devotion) as well as Traditional Hatha Yoga which has led her to discover greater depths of the yogic practice, understanding the beauty of the fluid form while investigating the more subtle layers that exist within us. Ultimately pointing to the totality of who we are which is the true meaning of yoga.

The Study

Throughout her yogic journey, she has been blessed to study directly and train with renowned teachers such as Shiva Rea, Paul Dallaghan and Richard Freeman. She feels huge gratitude to them for showing her the depth and beauty of asana.

She also feels immensely grateful for the chance to study directly with dear Sri OP Tiwari from the Kaivalydham Yoga Research Institute. Tiwariji is one of the few remaining masters of authentic pranayama and inspired by his humility, love and wisdom, Lorraine completed many advanced trainings and immersions in India and Thailand.

A curiosity and a strong aspiration to understand more about the world of subtle energies, led her to five years of intensive study of the traditional teaching of Tantra and Kundalini Yoga. This gifted her so much knowledge about the flow of energy, chakras, drishtis and bandhas and created a clear internal map to work with.

During the next few years, she found herself immersed in long silent meditation retreats that were inspired by the teachings of Ramana Maharshi, Kashmir Shaivism, Sufism, and Dzogchen. This period of intense experiential study brought a huge shift and transformation, both in her personal life and teaching practices.

After the silence, Bhakti Yoga became a big part of her life. She led large Kirtan gatherings and collaborated with other artists in Asia and Europe, pursuing more study in devotional practices and deity yoga.

Her love of self enquiry and truth took her to New Zealand where she lived in a Non Dual community for another four years attending daily Satsang and retreats. Non Duality or Jnana Yoga is a path that is considered to be one of the most direct and yet challenging means of spiritual development. It is a deep enquiry into the nature of the self.

THE PRESENT

Today, she is very inspired by nature based practices and trauma therapy, recognising how important this work is right now in our current world.  Honouring the human as well as the spiritual is vitally important to her work and research.

She is also the co-founder of an non profit organisation that helps women who have been victims of sexual abuse or domestic violence. This is her Karma Yoga.

After a huge journey through the different paths of yoga, her teachings are now really about honouring who we are from the physical to the beyond, seeing all levels as an important part of the whole. This all embracing approach shines through her trainings and retreats, making her courses uniquely heartfelt with a dose of good old English humour.

I feel finally in touch with my femininity. I’ll be grateful to you until the end of my physical life and eternally with my soul. What I feel is so deep and profound, its hard to describe with words. Its changing my world.
